gay! Jbl is the master in audio quality. and btw say that while hearing this in real life..
hi mate i hav ,( 2 inphase 2400 ipx 720 rms ) and ( 2 in phase 15″ 1800 sub 900 rms ) i started of with one power supply but it was cutting out all the time , then i got 4 pcu power supply and linkd them all togeter , now it dont cut out but all the lights on my amp are flashing wen bass kicks in coz of power loss , would buying 2 power caps stop this and make my system more safer ? thanks
@dieselsnapper4tw bass I love you
whats the title of that second song please?
Get a real amp.
@infinitySilvz Ok and wat do I care
no quality no bass no nothing man im sorry but thats like the shittiest thing ever, and i can say this cause im own and run over 1700W RMS in high end home audio
The sub won’t blow
Is right, the amp 200w bridge and I don’t have it any more, so no, it won’t blow.
this may be the stablest way but indefinably the stupidest and most dangerous way, guessing your a sound engineer is your so smug when you ask people if they are, you do not deserve a job as you would cause your customers danger with your advice if you give them advice like you have on here.
Thanks for you but no thanks
You just like to argue, your not trying to be helpful your trying to be arrogant, I don’t mind people commenting but to recommend such dangerous solutions and try and justify them with a box is beyond me, people want to do this because it’s a cheap way of running car equipment inside the house, but all I can say is if you want the best solution, buy a power amp @ 4 ohms not a car battery
put it in a wooden box and cover the terminals in grease, leave the stock covers on the terminals.
Batteries don’t just split open, if an AGM battery does split open then the most minute amount of acid will leak (if any).
I have known various people, some running well over 3000w in the house from a bank of car batteries, nothing bad ever happened. The thing is though it is probably easier to buy a house amp unless you like experimenting, if you like it then you need to stay safe.
I will repeat, anyone doing this a car battery is very dangerous in your house, if in circumstances it was to crack or spill you could suffer acid burns and also you can not stop power to a car battery so if there was to be water or connection between the terminals and your oblivious to it there could be some serious problems, but if you want to risk it, do what tommk3cab says
You can use a cat battery, it is a very common way of doing it. Using an AGM battery would eliminate any small risk of using a LA battery.
But obvious never use a car battery in the house, it is very dangerous, this is the safer option, but I am in no way saying it is safe just the cheapest and safer way.
as you say, this is exactly the point
The amp you are using will never be able to produce enough power, even if it was possible to run the amp into a dead short without the protection (inc fuses and power supply switch off))kicking in then something in the amp would fail before the sub did.
The main thing to be careful of when running car equipment at home is noise, this can be eliminated by using a car battery rather than a power supply.
I won’t mention the power cap
Of course, clipping is when you drive your amplifier over it’s recommened power, and that isn’t happening because it hasn’t got enough power if it had, it will never get it, I never maxed that subwoofer because it would clip and distort, it sounds horrible.
Thanks for you input though, if there’s anything that people should know when trying to do this please leave another comment
what, pray tell, is a hatter TARD?
I leave so many comments in the hope that someone may learn something, this is doubtful but sometimes, just sometimes it may happen.
If that makes me a hatter TARD (whatever the hell that is) then so be it.
is it like a tart with a hat on or something?
Mate wtf, why leave so many comments, your a fucking hatter TARD.
what happens if it is thrashed?
Look I’m a computer engineer, this works and as long as it’s not thrashed, which its not it will be fine. Thanks for your input
orly? so you are saying my knowledge was discredited because I made a correct statement?
Is the truth here actually that you may be realising I am not some kid who YOU can patronise and that you may in fact be wrong?
Some reading for you:
The loudness war
”fuzz” or overdrive pedals, guitarists use them.
Look into them, you will see you are wrong. Clip cannot kill anything, it is present in 99% of music unless you constantly listen to sine waves.
The ONLY single thing ( apart from physical force) which will kill speakers is too much power. Any more info I would be happy to provide.
Oh and all your knowelage was totally discredited when you said “clipping doesn’t kill speakers, if it did then every time you played music ( particularly rock) through any speakers they would blow”. lol
Electronics actually, not electrical, thats totally different, i design and build amplifiers for a hobby. Don’t patronise me im not discussing this with you because you’re a cunt.
You don’t have an understanding? therein lies the problem I think
Ok, you are an electrical engineer yeah? or a sound engineer? I will assume the former otherwise you would know what I am talking about already.
You understand what causes an amplifier to clip yeah? and you also understand that both subs and amps are ”dumb” objects? (by this I mean that they only do what we tell them, they cannot evolve or change themselves)
