@91dchavez If you want more power it’s a great idea. But the Slash 1000/1 is also an extremely high quality amplifier that outputs clean power. If you have a Slash 1000/1v2 I’d have a hard time telling you to sell it, but for an older slash, and if you’re ready for some more bass, it might be time to swap out that amplifier. You’d be better going with two Dual 2 Ohm Kicker CompVX subwoofers, that way you can run them down to a final impedance of 1.33 Ohms.

@DJKEE96ENT Well considering that you have some great equipment there you shouldn’t be having such issues. Ported enclosures usually require less power output to get their optimal sound, so you may want to tune your amplifier differently. Check your low pass filter settings, and also check your gains and bass boost settings. I’d recommend taking the system by a car audio shop to have them check the tuning so they can troubleshoot with you and help you diagnose the problem.
@SonicElectronixTV i have the same sub on this video powered by an alpine mrp 500 and there is no clipping or distortion the sub does not max out with 12 guage wire in an atrend ported enclosure and it smells hot like its burning up slowly whats wrong with it ???
@SonicElectronixTV I have a very simple system….kenwood kac-5204 bridged 150rms 4 ohm for my 10″ kicker c10 and a pioneer deh-3100 powering 4 pioneer ts-a1673’s. Next step is an amplifier for the pioneers…considering rockford fosgate prime 300w multi or punch 400w multi, however I read that the primes run hot, and I also wish to be able to upgrade these speakers again in the future(they are barely a week old at the moment) without changing mid-range amps again….which amp do you recommend?
@91dchavez That’s an awesome amplifier, but it’s not the best matchup for that many CVX’s. Each 12″ CompVX requires 750 watts of RMS power to run optimally, so you’d be underpowering 3 of them quite significantly. Go with a bigger amp or else you’ll be in danger of damaging those subwoofers. If you have the 2 Ohm models of those CVX’s then you’ll want to use an amp like the Hifonics Brutus BRZ2400.1D. This amp is efficient and will be a perfect matchup at 1.33 ohms.
i have 3 12″ kicker cvx, they are 4 ohm .i also have the jl audio 1000/1 amp will that be enough to power my subs? any recomendations for another a.mp or is it a keeper
@11TurboDiesel If you go with the CVX122 (The Dual 2 Ohm model) than you should run it with the Kicker ZX1500.1 It’s a powerful amplifier and the recommended matchup by Kicker for two CVX’s.
hey im gettin 2 kicker cvx 12s and i was wondering wht size amp and wht brand amp i should get. i just really cant decide on wht amp to get i have everyhting else tho
@1ADANSON1 Well, to be honest I wouldn’t really be able to tell you without knowing how much the amplifier truly outputs. That Performance Technique amp might be 1200 Watts, but that could be it’s peak power and not it’s actual RMS output power. If you’re bridging the amplifier, your amplifier usually wants to read a 4 Ohm load from the subwoofers, depending on the amplifier. Check out our forums for more help with that setup.

@lancerz12345 Amplifiers will always get hot when drawing current and creating power. They’re supposed to. Depending on the quality of the amplifier, and how well the manufacturer protected it from heat with fans, and heat sinks, this will effect how hot it gets overall when really pushing your system.
The amp may be in a spot that doesn’t have room to breath, or may just be running with the gain settings too high.
hi sonicelectronic..i have kicker solo baric l7, and use st chopin monoblock amp 2000watts, when i blast the wofer, the amp got hot,very hot, why this happen? pls reply…
i just picked up my 2010 kicker cvx 15 three days ago and i have it on my kx1200.1 and wow. even though i have it in an EXTREMLY small box for the break-in period, it still sounds really good.

@rusaldinho If you have one Dual 4 Ohm 12″ Kicker L7 the ZX750.1 is a perfect matchup for your application.
If you have two 12″ L7’s Dual 2 Ohm, you’ll want the ZX1500.1
