Visit the new Realm of Excursion for help, advice and logs! forum.realmofexcursion.com This is a sweet easy way to get some bass in your car without having to thread wires! Great solution if the car isnt yours, or you dont want to damage anything/take it apart. Obviously theres a limit to how much power you can draw here - however if you were to replace the cigarette lighter wires inside to the battery with high gauge, you could run an amp just like you would off the battery! The fuse in the fusebox would have to be upgraded depending on the power you want to draw and what is safe with the wires youre using. The batteries i was using arent ideal - best bet would be a small but high capacity car battery so its still 'portable'. That way you may not even need the cap. Video coming up of how to do this in more detail and ill be cleaning up the location of the parts.

Thug33Life March 18, 2011 at 1:14 pm

dustinby15 March 18, 2011 at 1:51 pm

hey mate u should patent that idea cuz u and every one knows theres a lot of lazy people out there and could make some good money on it to

ThePartnerSubscriber March 18, 2011 at 2:33 pm

hey wait you have stripes on your bonnet? i just assumed it was like my learner mini :-)

barevids March 18, 2011 at 2:56 pm

@jandan2892 yeah Kent area, in dartford. Haha awesome that’s even better, we didn’t go for the boot cig lighter option, that makes life even easier. If you got a bit of money to put into it I’d go ahead and get a ‘kinetik’ battery, designed for high power car audio and they’re really small for fitting in ur boot. I can also link you the user plug and any other shiz you’ll need lol. What system you thinking of hooking up? Mines a lease car as well haha.

jandan2892 March 18, 2011 at 3:48 pm

@barevids much appreciated mate, been trying to figure this out for fucking ages, my mini is on lease so i can’t rip it up… but i’m dieing to get some bass going! just spotted a ciggy lighter port in my boot too…
funny thing is, i had the idea of a spare battery which wouldnt work on its own…
the idea of the AUX splitter, which wouldn’t work without power to my amp, and the idea of using my ciggy lighter.. but you’ve just put it all together for me!
you living down south yeah?

barevids March 18, 2011 at 3:52 pm

@xLesles15x yeah you’ll be fine with that, you should have a 30 amp fuse in the amp? What I’d do is upgrade the wires from your battery to the cig lighter to lower gauge, like 6 gauge. Then you’ll need to change the cig lighter fuse to a 30a, and connect the amp wires to the cig lighter using a fused lighter plug.

@jandan2892 glad I could help bro, if u need any help setting this up just let me know yeah!

jandan2892 March 18, 2011 at 5:30 pm

Mate, i love you. Been looking for this for my mini for months.
You are a genius.

darkstar286 March 18, 2011 at 6:16 pm

@xLesles15x no. That’s an insane amount of power for a cigarette lighter.

xLesles15x March 18, 2011 at 6:36 pm

Hi man i have built a full fibreglass install with the intention of putting it in my car as removable the amp i wanna use is only a 400w peak and 41 watt rms so could i just plug a cig socket straight to it and go you think .thanks

pasionbass March 18, 2011 at 7:23 pm

@barevids why don’t you get a wire coming from the cig lighter and attach it to the fusion amp remote terminal so if you do put the amp into the boot it saves you going into the boot and toggling the switch every time you wanna hear some beats haha lol

DynamikT March 18, 2011 at 8:14 pm

Please tell me where you got that 12v thing what goes in to the cigarette lighter? Thanks.

barevids March 18, 2011 at 8:15 pm

@themaster91156 yeah lol this was just a test to see if it worked, if i ever implement this properly the install will be much tidier

themaster91156 March 18, 2011 at 8:29 pm

thats very smart but it looks kinda tacky like theres wires ad stuff every where

ArabianGoggles69 March 18, 2011 at 9:00 pm

MustanGT2003 March 19, 2011 at 12:33 am
